Okay, I really need some help. My partner and I have been trying to have a baby for quite a while now with no success. We have talked about IVF. In fact, we’re seriously considering contacting IVF Canada and we have targeted a specific date to do so if we can’t get pregnant.
However, before we do, can anyone give us some advice on improving our chances of fertility? Have any of you been in this position before? I suspect there must be a number of you who have gone through this as well.
Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

We’ve been through similar frustrations, so I can sympathise. In fact, we approached IVF Canada and I am happy to say we were successful. I am glad to hear that you may choose the same source.
However, let’s hope that you will be successful on your own. I can offer some advice, but please keep in mind that none of it is meant to be offensive in any way.
It helps to control your weight. Being overweight or underweight for that matter, is not ideal. If you are at a healthier weight level, this can help. Sometimes, it could mean several changes in many areas which can help you conceive.
No, don’t worry, I understand what you mean. I won’t be offended. Thanks for the tip. That’s not it though, since we are both in pretty good shape.

For some lucky people, they only have to blink and they get pregnant. For others, a lot of forces have to come into play. It all has to click at the right moment. One little thing being slightly off and you’ll have to start all over again.
Things like alcohol, cigarettes and a poor diet can all play a part in both partners. Make sure to leave no stone unturned. For healthy sperm, vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium are important too.

A man may produce millions of sperm on a daily basis, but this is really no guarantee of anything. They may not be mature. They may not be good swimmers. This makes fertilization near impossible.
All you can do is play your part in giving yourself the best chance. So, if you have any of these bad habits, you should try to eliminate them.
My partner smokes and we both drink socially, but not a lot. Thanks for the advice. We will make the necessary sacrifices. It won’t be easy but it must be done. Thank you.

While this may sound like it’s a joke, it isn’t. I know this is a serious and emotional thing. Just keep having sex. Try as often as possible. This can help a woman’s ovulation and make her menstrual cycle more predictable.
If you use any lubricants, make sure it is the right one. If they contain a spermicidal agent, they will destroy the sperm. Try not to use saliva either. Whatever gives you a better chance. Check your lubricant.
I had no idea about the lubricants. I might try that out!
