I am writing this on behalf of the company I am with. I would like to know if there is any point in using a temp agency. I mean, can we not try and source workers by ourselves?

It is true that at certain periods of the year, we do require more hands on deck. Sometimes too, we need a bit of expertise for certain tasks. We are just trying to weigh our options before deciding one way or another. I’d appreciate your input. Thank you all in advance.

Hello. I would suggest that you use one. It looks like your company have never used a temp agency before. From what you have said, I would certainly recommend that your company tries it.

While it is true that you can try to source the workers by yourself, sometimes, as you mentioned, certain tasks will require a greater knowledge. Your current staff may not be able to do this. They may not have the qualifications or the experience in handling such tasks.

That being said, you have your answer right there. If current staff cannot handle a job, then surely you need to get someone in who can, right?

Yes, that is a valid point.

I can tell you one thing though; you will save a lot of time when you deal directly with a temp agency. The agency will have a database of talent that they can search. More often than not, you will be able to hire someone.

If not, you can try another agency. Another time-saving benefit is that you do not have to interview anyone, one at a time, to see if they are qualified. More of the company’s time can be spent doing constructive tasks instead of doing these searches.

You also do not need to do other screening tests such as drug or criminal checks.

Oh, right, I see what you mean. Yes, that is a huge benefit. No need to devote time and effort to such tasks.

Business is all about money. You will be saving on that too, when you think about it. If you do not use an agency, how are you going to find someone? Obviously, you are going to need to advertise and this will cost money.

When you do chance upon several candidates that have made the final cut before you pick one, you will have to fund all these background checks and screening, to touch on something the other person said above.

I think you have swayed my decision. I suppose there is no point sitting on the fence. You have mentioned some very sensible points. Would you make any recommendations?

You know, I have used a temp agency to find some workers that I was so happy with, I gave a couple of them a permanent position in my company! You see, sometimes you just don’t know. It worked out so well for all concerned. I used All Personnel, for what it’s worth, so you can use that as a starting point. I have used them on other occasions too, with good results.

Listen, thank you both so much. This is useful information. I will recommend to my superiors that we move forward with it. Have an excellent day!
